Orly Sweet Peacock

Good Morning :)

Yesterday was Autism Awareness Day, I think the entire month is Autism Awareness Month actually, but I hear that some bloggers were going to paint their nails blue for April 2nd. Well, by the time I was aware of this it was too late for me to do that. I’m a day late, but better late than never. I don’t personally know anyone with autism, but why not support a good cause? You never know what life is going to throw you down the road.

I chose to use Orly Sweet Peacock as my blue mani. I’ve managed to neglect it for about 4 months now since I’ve had it since December…its such a pretty blue, I don’t know why I was being so lazy. Sweet Peacock is an electric blue with a foil finish, but applied as smooth as a cream. Coverage was great, I could have gotten away with 1 coat, but I opted for 2 as I usually prefer to do.

The symbol for autism awareness is a puzzle piece so I decided to try and incorporate that into my mani. Now, I’m horrible at nail art….honestly I haven’t really tried other than dots and stamps, but my point is that I don’t even have any brushes. So I was stuck using my dotting tools in an effort to paint a puzzle piece. After 4 attempts I finally got something that resembled a puzzle piece rather than a blue ginger man doing the splits. For my puzzle piece/ginger man I used Essie Borrowed & Blue.

What a brilliant blue, and you’re good at nail art. Look at that puzzle piece – I think it’s very well-done! :) And especially considering you used dotting tools instead of a brush, that’s even better. Shows that you use what you have, and you make it work (to quote Tim Gunn…hehe). ;)
