Are we tired of neons yet? No?…Never?? Good, cause I’m not and its not even summer yet so there will be lots more neons in the future. I have a kind of oldie..(is 2010 old?) neon today from China Glaze Poolside Collection. It is a shade I heard many bloggers mentioning so of course I joined in. I’m talking about Flip Flop Fantasy, an awesome neon coral. I used to hate corals, but I’m trying to warm up to them slowly…since this is a neon though I had no hesitation with giving it a try.
I’ve had these swatches in my drafts for a while now, so I’m not exactly sure how many coats I used here. My guess is that I used 3 coats. It wasn’t as sheer and streaky as Celtic Sun, but its still a neon and needs to be worked up. If you want to cut down coats when using a neon it’s a good idea to use a white as a base color then apply the neon shade over. It will help it pop more and become opaque in less coats. However, for these swatches I did not use a white base coat.
I know this season it seems like just about everyone is coming out with a neon collection. I love neon shades, but I feel like once you have one neon yellow you have them all…there can’t be that much difference between 5 neon yellows. I’m sure other neon shades are a little different like pinks and purples, but others like yellow and orange just seem the same. I had such a hard time resisting Orly’s Feel The Vibe Collection I ended up buying the two least neon colors, Skinny Dip and After Party. Maybe I’m just thinking more practical for once when it comes to nail polish. The blogger/addict within me still wants to have at least 2 or 3 neon yellows from different collections…but I’m being good and practical. Go me
