Tim Burton MoMA Nails

Hello!

I was going through old pictures on my computer a couple weeks ago and I came upon my visit back in 2009 to the Tim Burton exhibit at the MoMA. I instantly got inspired to do a mani based on this huge blow up creature that was there. I don’t remember anything about this creature except that it was huge and awesome. I wish this exhibit was still open because I would love to go again and again, but it was only open from November ’09 to April ’10 :( It was amazing seeing all of his notebook sketches and the beginnings of what turned into his movies and its characters. Plus so many never before seen illustrations and prints. I would love to have some of his prints on my walls. *dreaming*  I love Tim Burton…especially when he collaborates with Danny Elfman and Johnny Depp. However, I wasn’t a huge fan of his remake of Alice in Wonderland… and I’m not hearing good things about Dark Shadows, but I’m not going there.

So here is the creature of inspiration:

Isn’t he the cutest? It’s like he’s a giant zombie light bulb, with a slight emo-ness to him. I should name him…I’ll go with George since I seem to name everything George.

For my recreation of George in mani form I used Zoya Robyn (blue), Zoya Snow White (white) and Finger Paints Black Expressionism (black). It was fairly easy and fun to recreate.

Zoya Robyn

For whatever reason I only took a bottle picture of Robyn, but I’m sure you all know what basic white and black look like. The bottle cap is black and the sticker on the bottom is white, so there ya go I got all three colors in there.

My thumb is usually camera shy, but this time she came out to play and show off her outfit.

I based my thumb off of a swirly arrow that was near the entrance of the exhibit.

I’ve never attempted to replicate something on my nails before so this was a first. I like how it came out, I see things I would like to have done differently like the placement of one of the eyes, but overall I think I portrayed George well :)

Anyone else a Tim Burton fan or was able to see the exhibit?
