China Glaze Ride the Waves

Hello again!

Blue jelly anyone??? Yes please! The right kind of jelly can just be simply amaaaaazing. My interest in jelly polishes has been quickly growing. However, not any jelly will do. My personal preference is a jelly that can be easily worked up to complete opaqueness or a barely there visible nail line. I like the squishy look, but I don’t want to be able to see my entire nail right through it. Once I saw Ride the Waves in the China Glaze Summer Neons 2012 press releases I knew I had to have it. I know some people don’t like the fact that there are some non-neon polishes in the CG Summer Neons Collection, but I really think Ride the Waves compliments the collection perfectly. Whats a summer collection without a blue, and this one is awesome because its squishy blue water on your nails.

Ride the Waves

Ride the Waves

Ride the Waves is a dark squishy jelly blue. Its the perfect replication of a deep blue sea. Since it’s a jelly you will need 2-3 coats to cover any visible nail line. I stuck with 2 coats since that seems to be my magic number.

To please my fellow glitter lovers I added a coat of Kleancolor Starry Blue over Ride the Waves.

So what do you think about Ride the Waves? I love jellies right now and I think a lot of other people are as well so maybe it was a good thing China Glaze added some non neons to their collection :) Moooooore jellies!!

This jelly looks amazing, especially with that glitter on! My only concern is how much will it stain :-D

I had to do this mani twice in one day. Leave it to me to wash my car right after I do my nails and then of course the second round I had to help move furniture while it wasnt fully dry! So I can tell you that both times I did not have any staining. I used Seche as my base coat.

    Just…yes. Totally awesome.

      Haha thanks!

Wow no staining!!! I’m sporting its twin right now, Splish Splash and I hope it won’t stain me either… Do you find that Seche basecoat is best against staining?

I can’t recall ever having a staining issue when I use my Seche base coat. I don’t know if thats due to Seche being a great base coat or the polishes themselves not staining. The last time my nails stained I used my Essie Grow Stronger as a base coat, I don’t think I’ve used it since haha. But I don’t think I’ve ever had staining using Seche base coat.

I LOVE this blue! I love all blue polishes, but this one is extra stunning!! It kind of reminds me of Revlon Royal, just not as dark and just as gorgeous!! O.O

    1. Frosso

Yea, its kind of a cross between Revlon Royal and Orly Royal Navy (without the glitter)

Good luck, I hope you can find it! I’m still on search to complete the rest of my CG neons collection.

I’m still not a total Jelly convert yet, since I feel the colors I own need a base coat to really pop (like my DL Sweet Dreams)! I am totally loving this with the glitter though!!!

Thanks! Afterwards I was kicking myself for not trying to jelly sandwich it, but as I mentioned I ruined my nails twice in the time I was posting this so I was tired of Ride the Waves by then haha.

That is awesome that it didn’t stain at all. It’s a gorgeous blue and that glitter really makes it come alive.

Thanks! I was so glad I finally had something to pair my kleancolor glitter with, I had it foreveeeeer.

Pretty! I especially like it with the glitter topcoat :) It is awesome that it didn’t stain. Blues and greens tend to be some of the worst on me :(

    1. Frosso

Dark blues can be a little scary sometimes, but my major staining issues always seem to be the reds…thats why you wont see many on here.
