Hey Everyone,
I made my first purchase from The Nail Junkie a few weeks ago which included Watermelon Jelly Shimmer and Apple Jelly Shimmer. They are both from her Summer 2012 Collection. This is what came in my package (sorry for the picture quality, it was taken with my phone at the time)
A hand written note, Watermelon and Apple Jelly Shimmer in separate tube containers, stack of felt pads for removal and a sample of Cutie Balm since I purchased 2 polishes. I haven’t use the Cutie Balm yet since I like saving sample sizes for traveling so I can’t give any real opinion on it other than it was a nice addition
Watermelon Jelly Shimmer
Watermelon Jelly Shimmer didn’t turn out to be the type of watermelon shade I had in mind. It came out much more orangey red rather than a bright pinkish red I normally associate watermelon with. The shimmer didn’t translate well on the nail either which was a little disappointing. You can definitely see there is shimmer in there, but you have to really look for it. Other than that, application was great, it is a very opaque jelly so only two coats were needed and applied flawlessly.
Apple Jelly Shimmer
Apple Jelly Shimmer is a bit more to my liking. It applied the same as Watermelon Jelly Shimmer, but also lacked in shimmer on the nail. However, I love the color which is super bright and great for summer. I used two coats plus a clear top coat which I highly suggest to keep its shiny jelly finish.
Overall I really like my two jellies, however I could have done without the shimmer since it didn’t really translate well once it was on the nail. The formula and application was amazing so I’m still very happy with these.
You can purchase The Nail Junkie polishes directly through her site here. They are $10 each, but shipping is FREE. International shipping is $5 which doesn’t sound like a bad deal at all.
* As I was posting this it looks that the Summer 2012 Collection is sold out, but keep checking her page for restock info!
* * The Nail Junkie just officially announced her new “Animals Polish Line” still no word on any Summer 2012 restocks though.

Of the two, I like the Apply Jelly Shimmer! I have yet to try felt as a polish removing pad, but I have seen a lot of stuff like that popping up lately, so I may have to get some scraps out and try them! It’s a shame the shimmer doesn’t show on the nail with these, it’s be beautiful, especially on that gorgeous green!

I’ve yet to try the felt pads, I keep forgetting I have them. The idea of using felt never crossed me mind until I got them in my order, but I can kinda see how they might work well with glitter removal.

Gosh, I love jellies SO much. Those look positively good enough to eat, even if the pink one is more tomato than watermelon. Tomato jelly?? It could work, lol!

lol, tomato jelly…as a food that sounds pretty gross, but for nail polish it sounds kinda good!

Oooh these are different! I like that apple one a lot. The names and packaging both suggest to me that both of these polishes should be scented, haha.
