Hey Everyone!
I’ve got a special polish today. I mentioned in a previous post that I had gone to one of my favorite beauty supply stores this past weekend along with my boyfriend. He was the reason I was there in the first place, he’s hooked on Paul Mitchell Tea Tree products and had to replenish his supplies. Of course I had fists full of polish within the first 30 seconds, but while perusing there was a make shift display labeled “Discontinued China Glaze” I only glanced at the polishes in the front and moved on. I guess I was too overwhelmed and anxious to look at everything else I didn’t bother to dig. Well as my back was turned, my super awesome super hero of a boyfriend picked up a bottle and mentioned it looked kinda cool. I turned around and lo and behold he is holding a bottle of Midtown Magic. Which just so happens to be one of those polishes on my wish list I thought I would never come across in person. I let out a huge GASP , my face probably did this:
and freaked out. My boyfriend is magical….
He was so proud of himself because he picked out a “really cool looking” polish AND it was one of my HTF wish list items. He even bought it for me, with a huge grin of achievement all over his face. Of course he immediately said I had to write a blog post about this and give him proper credit. So here’s your blog post SUGAR BUNS!!!! ;P
I would also like to mention I am posting this on the 3 year anniversary of the day we met. It’s not our official anniversary since we weren’t dating and all, but it means just as much to me if not more.
So on to the polish that made me love my boyfriend even more than I thought was possible, China Glaze Midtown Magic…
Midtown Magic
Just glancing at the bottle, Midtown Magic looks like a dark chocolate base. However, when you hold it up angled in direct light you can see its actually a really dark, possibly blackened burgundy base. You’ll be able to see it a little in my first two pictures below. You may also notice the burgundy looking at the line of polish closest to my cuticles on some nails. The best part of this polish are the gold and bronze flecks in it, I’m not sure but it may also have red flecks.

I used my usual 2 coats for this mani and application was heavenly. I love Midtown Magic soooo much, I will never part with it even though I’ll probably never be allowed to if I wanted. It’s a really great polish especially for Fall.

HAHAHAHAH!!! I bought this last year, around the same time I started the blog, because I saw someone use it in a gradient. I did the same gradient and haven’t used it yet.

I love it when my guy does sweet stuff like this! He never goes polish shopping w me but he makes up for it by doing other sweet stuff. Like picking up all the presents our sweet dogs leave is all over the back yard. Lol

What a cute story
. It’s really nice when something like that happens with a nail polish because then it becomes special and not just another polish in your collection. Midtown Magic has been on my (ever-expanding) wishlist for a while now–this post has given me hope that I too may be able to stumble across it in a store one day. (Of course it’s still ETF online, but where’s the fun and surprise in that??)

Exactly! I’m always going to remember that moment now because of Midtown Magic. I agree with you on not buying it online, for some reason I do the same and would rather find some polishes on my own even if they’re somewhat HTF.

Woo hoo… points for Sugar Buns!! Hahaha. That’s really cute he found it even tho he had absolutely no clue what he was looking at! My husband mostly just looks angry and pouts when I’m looking at polish.
He should take some lessons. ;p This polish is really pretty… it reminds me a little of Lubu Heels with that glow from within shimmer or microglitter… whatever. It’s prettttty!!

Haha, thanks. He’s had his anti polish moments though like literally dragging me away from walking towards Sally’s but those are few and far in between.
