Illamasqua Poke

Hey Everyone!

Purple used to always be my go to color when it came to polishes, I couldn’t get enough of them and I always gravitated towards them. Then of course I forced myself to open up to other colors and now my life has been swallowed up by a rainbow of lacquer. I still have a soft spot for those purples though, even though they are the BIGGEST pain in the butt colors to photograph!

My all time favorite purple polish is Illamasqua Poke. If you are a purple lover like me and do not have this polish I urge you to get it. I know its on the pricier side, $14.00 USD, but it is soooo worth the splurge. My photographs will most likely not do this polish justice, but that is usually the case of purples. I did my best to achieve color accuracy, but I couldn’t get it just right :( It’s a bit of a darker violet in person than in the photos.

Poke is ….*starring at my fingertips*….*drool*…Poke makes me so happy! Its a bright violet purple with a gorgeous and subtle shimmer finish. Formula and application was just dreamy. Illamasqua has by far one of the best lacquer formulas I’ve ever used. I applied 2 coats plus a clear top coat and it was perfection :) From my experiences I’ve always had a decent amount of wear time with Poke. I don’t wear the same polish for too long so I can’t say exactly how long it could last, but I’ve worn it in the past for a week without any chips before I removed it.

I’m always so happy to own the few Illamasqua products I have. None have ever disappointed me in quality or expectations. I give praises to Illamasqua because they are such an amazing brand that is not afraid to set themselves apart from other brands in the industry. I only wish their products were a bit more accessible for me as my Sephora does not carry Illamasqua, aside from a select few polishes. There’s always online shopping, but I prefer to have a feel and test out cosmetics before I purchase. I’ll just keep wishing they expand more here in the states.

As I mentioned above, Illamasqua can be purchased through Sephora. You can also purchase directly from the Illamasqua website, but its a bit more expensive if you are ordering from there and shipping to the US.

Super gorgeous purple! Purple used to be my go-to color too. I think I’ve stopped my purple craze for a while, but still love them! This one looks amazing on you!!

I’ve noticed! You used to post purples all the time, I could always count on you to flash another one I’d want in my face :) It’s good we’re expanding though.

Don’t fear the purple, embrace it!

Purple is one of my safe colours as well, but then I realized I was denying myself the pleasures of crazy greens and blues! “Poke” is still a stunning colour though with that hint of silver shimmer. Of course, the polish name is great as well although nothing beats “Load”!

Hahaha Poke is a cute name, but I agree Load is the best, especially considering what color it is lol.

I love the shimmer throughout this, it is really pretty! I usually shy away from purples just because they’re so hard to photograph color-accurately!

Thats what I ended up doing! Once I started blogging I slowed down on purples because I’d discourage myself from wearing them because I didn’t want to fight with photographing and adjusting them.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrr! I had been staying away from this one for the longest time and now I’m going to have to get it. I am still hopeful that the Sephora duo you mentioned is not really out of stock. I am checking on that now because they sometimes list stuff as OOS before they are actually released. I’ll let you know what I find out.

Hmmmm thats a really good point! I did notice that there were no customer reviews on it, which is weird if they sold out already. You might be right. Plus I came up empty when I tried googling reviews or swatches. Let me know if you find it!
