OPI Sparkle-icious

Hey Everyone!

Today I have a fantastic glitter courtesy of Candy from Tattoos and Nail Polish. A few months ago we did a little swap after she offered to fulfill a lemming of mine, Absolutely Alice. She also sent me a few other polishes which included another AMAZING glitter, Sparkle-icious. The name definitely fits the polish, serious sparkle going on in this bottle.

Sparkle-icous is from OPI’s Holiday 2010 Burlesque Collection released along with the Burlesque movie. This was before my being really into OPI so I missed the collection, but I do remember afterwards contemplating purchasing Sparkle-icious off of Amazon. Of course I sat on it too long and it vanished for good. So I was super happy when Candy said she was sending this along with Absolutely Alice.

Sparkle-icious is a densely packed multi colored glitter with a clear base. There’s tons of sparkle coming from this bottle with gold, purple, and bright blue glitter. Even though there’s a good amount of glitter in the bottle, one coat definitely will not give you full coverage. It took me 3 coats to cover the whole nail. If you’re really afraid of this much glitter, one coat is definitely good for a top coat over another polish. But, really? It’s called Sparkle-icious…it’s in the name. You can’t just stifle all the amazingness with a one coater!

As for top coat and wear, it was not a huge top coat eater which was surprising to me. I used one coat of Gelous and then another coat of Seche fast dry top coat and that was enough for a smooth glassy finish. Wear proved to be not so great. It chipped less than 24hrs of wearing it. I guess OPI isn’t that great with their glitters lasting power because I had the same problem with Absolutely Alice.

After putting Sparkle-icious on it reminded me a lot of another glitter I own, Rescue Beauty Lounge Locavore. It’s the same size and density of glitter and have a similar color mixture. Sparkle-icious has bright blue, purple and gold glitter. As for Locavore, it has bright blue, purple and a greenish yellow glitter. They seem pretty similar to me except that Locavore is dominantly greenish yellow glitter and Sparkle-icious seems to have all three colors a lil more evenly distributed. Either way, they’re different enough for me to justify having both in my collection :)
