Under the Sea

Hey Everyone!

The last time I tried to do some nail art was around Easter and I failed miserably. I had a cute peep mani idea, but I was lacking one key element…actual nail art tools. All I had were dotting tools…I tried to work with that but failed. So the last time I paid a visit home, I found all of my old art supplies and a bunch of brushes. Yay…with that and another nail art brush I purchased I was all set finally :) So since I’ve never made any real attempts with brushes I just started with a super basic design. Today I have for you my “Under the Sea” mani featuring Color Club Chelsea Girl.

Color Club Chelsea Girl

Color Club Chelsea Girl

I love Chelsea Girl, it’s a vibrant electric blue and kind of on the jelly side…but not entirely. Ok, here’s what I came up with, remember its simple so don’t expect to “oooohh and aaaaah” and then find yourself not :P

Here is what I used for this “masterpiece” :P

Bubbles: Dotting tools and Orly Au Champagne; Seaweed: Color Club Twiggie; Starfish: Pop Beauty Ablaze and Pure Ice Twinkle.

The starfish is a little funky. It was slightly funky to start out with then it dragged a little when I put my top coat on and got more funky, probably because it was a little thick. I dunno how people can do those super tiny detailed nail art. I feel like I need those microscopic lense/light  things that guys use to paint their lil sci-fi figurines. I can’t remember what they’re called, but hopefully you know what I’m talking about.

I know this is extremely simple compared to all the other nail art out there, but I still think this is simply cute :)

365 Days of Color Cotton Candy

Hi!!

Today I have my first of 3 polishes from 365 Days of Color. These polishes were only available through submitting an order form on her blog, but she is no longer taking orders at the moment. Don’t worry though, 365 Days of Color will soon be up for purchase on Big Cartel. Yay! Here’s a link to her Facebook tab that shows what polishes she currently makes. The three I purchased were Cotton Candy, Summer Dream and Old Time Movie.

The first I am swatching is Cotton Candy because I love cotton candy. I love to eat it and now I love to wear it :)

Cotton Candy is a creamy white base with pink and light blue hex glitter…just like cotton candy! So simple and straight to the point, but so freaking cute and fun. You can wear this over a plain white cream polish or wear alone. I applied two coats of Cotton Candy alone and had opaque coverage. I usually worry about my glitter being swallowed by the base color when I use really opaque polishes with glitter in it, but I didn’t really have that problem with Cotton Candy. The only issue, as you can see in the picture, was the label scratched off easily…but I don’t really care about that so much as whats inside the bottle.

BeadsInk

Hey Everyone!

Today’s post isn’t exactly a nail polish post, but its not entirely non polish related so don’t get your mani’s all chipped :P A little over a week ago I saw a post on Let Them Have Polish featuring some nail polish jewelry from an Etsy shop by the name of BeadsInk.

I used to not care for nail polish jewelry much, they all looked pretty, but I never had any real desire to purchase any. That was until I saw the Floam ring. Now, I’m lucky enough to have gotten my hands on Floam, but seeing it in ring form gave me an “OHHHHH MY GAWD” moment. I waisted no time at that point. I immediately contacted the shop owner, Stephanie, through her blog site and through the BeadsInk Etsy shop. I get all stalker like when I really get excited about something lol, gotta cover all my bases.

The extra great thing about BeadsInk is that she is more than happy to make custom orders for you. Which means, you can go to the BeadsInk website and look through her ginormous nail polish list and request a custom order based on whatever polishes she has in her personal collection. Since my favorite accessories are rings, I placed an order for the same Floam ring I originally fell in love with and a smaller setting in Butter London The Black Knight.

When my order arrived it included a personalized note from Stephanie. She was so sweet and thoughtful enough to look through my nail polish list and want list on my blog and made me an extra ring out of Nebula since I didn’t have it in my collection. How sweet is that? I’ve interacted with so many nice people between blogging and Etsy, and this was by far the most thoughtful act I’ve received from some one. Thank you Stephanie!

Now onto the pretty jewelry :) I don’t have any pictures of the cute packaging…because to be honest I tore threw it like a kid on Christmas morning without even thinking about it. Here’s what was inside the ravaged packaging….

I thought it was cute that the box my rings came in happened to match my current mani, so of course I had to take pics!

As if I didn’t overload on pics already…here’s a couple more of Floam because I love it so much.

Hope you enjoyed today’s post and take a looksie over at BeadsInk! There’s tons more great stuff to check out in her shop :)

Candeo Colors Dive Bomb

Hey Everyone!

So just a lil heads up…this past weekend tragedy struck my camera. There was an incident involving my camera, and someone’s hands and it doing a not so pleasant drop, bounce, roll, and crash. I’m not pointing any fingers….I’m trying to be over it. I’m still a bit upset about it though. Well, as a result my fairly new camera is no longer working…I have to mail it to Nikon and hope with all my might that they can repair it under warranty…if not then I’m out a couple hundred dollars if it needs to be replaced entirely. Which is horrible timing because I just left my job last week as I am moving back to CT next week (with no job in line yet).  Can you imagine my stress here especially since a camera is a vital part of my blog? Luckily I have my old Nikon around. It’s barely hanging onto life, but it’s better than nothing. One of the reasons why I replaced it was because it has lost all ability to accurately photograph most purples and all pink or red polishes. So I won’t be posting any of those for a while. I have no idea how long it will take my camera situation to be resolved. I’m sad…very very sad.

* End of pity party *

Ok, onto my actual post…

Candeo Colors Dive Bomb

I’ve got another Candeo Colors to show today, Dive Bomb. I really really really like this one, more than I thought I would. It is a clear based glitter with multi sized hex glitter in teal holo, blue and bronze, as well as tiny copper square glitter and some blue shimmer. I layered one coat over Sephora by OPI Opening Night, a shimmery navy blue. I am in love with the combination of Dive Bomb and Opening Night. It reminds me of something under the sea. It’s so amazing in person, even my boyfriend was super impressed by my mani. I put a coat of Gelous and another coat of Seche top coat to smooth over the glitter and give it a glassy look.  I wish I could capture how amazing it looks in person, it looks almost 3 dimensional with the glitters floating over the blue. My favorite part is the glow the small copper glitter reflects off of the blue.
